Please note that although we use the utmost care in packing and shipping your OceanPets, the long journey may take a temporary toll on your new friends. If acclimated properly, they will live long happy lives. If you have never ordered livestock online, we would like to point out a few things to take note of:
Some anemones are shipped without water, because this has proven to be the best way to ship these animals. Your anemone will recover to its full glory once placed in your aquarium.
Some starfish and urchins may lose appendages during their journey, due to stress. This does not mean that they are dead or dying. The lost appendages will be replaced/regrown before long.
Many polyps, clams, and corals can appear lifeless for a few days after they arrive at their destination. Do not throw them away. Given proper lighting and nutrition, they will regain their full color and vigor.
When your soft corals arrive, you may notice mucus or discoloration in their bags. This is a normal process and occurs during growth or from shipping stress. Just remove the mucus and place the coral in your aquarium. If you notice more mucus later on, simply net out the mucus. Once the coral acclimates the secretion will stop.
Remember, even if your fish or coral appears to be lifeless upon arrival, acclimate it according to the proper procedures. During shipping, the pH of the water can decrease dramatically due to fish waste in the water, causing the fish to look as if it has died. If properly acclimated, it will thrive again.
Returns
If the shipping container you receive does not match what you ordered, please notify us immediately via email to sales@oceanpets.com. If what we sent you does not match the finalized order that you placed, we will send you the correct order. Since we cannot expect the fish to survive the trip back, you will not need to send it back.
Because of the complex packaging procedures for all aquatic life and our concern for the health and well-being of all specimens we offer, we cannot accept any returns. Refunds or replacements will only be given when there is an error on our part. Please make your selections carefully.
We go to great lengths to ensure that the aquarium life we send you arrives in the best condition possible. Unfortunately, there are rare instances when specimens do not survive during transit or within the guarantee period despite every effort to ensure their well-being. In these cases we will stand by our Guarantee and refund or replace your order if all requirements are met.
